Landscaping Grant Program Information and Application
The Millarville Horticultural Club (MHC) provides grants to non-profit organizations operating within Foothills County No. 31, West of the 5th Meridian and North of the Bar U Trail (Hwy. 540).
The grants are designed to enhance the appearance of the grounds of the organization or institution which is supported by the organization located within the prescribed boundaries.
Note: Effective in 2023 and ongoing, grants may be given to any organization no more than twice in a five-year period.
The successful application will adhere to one or more of these categories:
Hard landscaping – can include site preparation, pathways, retaining walls, fencing, trellises, loam, edging, mulching, compost, etc.
Permanent plant materials – due to the extremes of our climate, it is necessary that only plant species acclimated to the area or locally grown be selected. Annuals DO NOT qualify for the grant.
Installation Costs – can include paid labour and machine rentals.
Projects should also include the following components:
Details regarding any volunteer time and donations should be included in the project description. A reasonable amount of volunteer participation which could include planning, installation, donated machinery time and materials is expected.
If applicable, include details on any prior MHC grants received. Specifically, please include a brief description with date, grant amount and the result of the previous project.
Procedure:
The maximum amount of grant available for each project is up to $1,000 to be determined by the MHC Landscaping Grant Committee based on the project submission.
Each project will be examined to determine that its execution is in keeping with the purpose and scope outlined in the application.
The grant monies will be sent to the organization upon approval by the MHC Landscaping Grant Committee.
For projects that cannot be completed in the calendar year, the organization may re-apply to be considered for further funding at a later date within the parameters of two grants in five years.
Note: Successful applicants are asked to provide “before and after” photos which will be kept in the MHC’s permanent records.
